Sara and Prerak envisioned their wedding as a multi-day destination celebration that blended Indian heritage, Arab influences, and the timeless romance of Portugal. Planned by Unique Dream Wedding, the three-day event unfolded across several breathtaking locations within Penha Longa Resort in Sintra. The Haldi ceremony took place in a lush garden setting framed by the Sintra mountains, where vibrant yellow décor and joyful traditions created a colorful beginning to the weekend. Throughout the celebration, romantic floral installations by Decorelle transformed each space, from vibrant ceremony backdrops to elegant reception arrangements. The Sangeet transformed the historic cloisters into a glamorous evening of music and dancing, with lighting and production by Rituais and HBCV bringing the celebration to life. The following day’s Indian ceremony honored tradition in a beautiful garden setting, ending with an unforgettable surprise, a dramatic Arabic fire show that delighted guests and brought the evening to a spectacular close. For the final day, the celebration moved to Forte da Cruz, a historic seaside venue overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The Western ceremony embraced a soft and romantic aesthetic with white florals, flowing fabrics, and coastal views. The evening reception culminated in a magical moment as Sara and Prerak cut their wedding cake, created by Edelweiss, beneath a breathtaking fireworks display over the ocean.

Sara and Prerak met within the first few weeks of dental school, forming an immediate connection that grew into a relationship rooted in deep friendship and unwavering support. They began dating in January 2019, building a life together through the years that followed. On July 29, 2023, in Boston, Prerak planned an outdoor proposal on a perfect summer day—until a sudden torrential rainstorm forced a last-minute change. While Sara spent the day unaware, he quietly reimagined every detail. That evening, what she believed was a simple dinner led her to a private elevator in a Boston skyscraper. When the doors opened, she stepped into a candlelit corridor lined with flowers and soft music. At the end, Prerak was waiting. He took her hand, got down on one knee, and asked her to build a life together rooted in love and lifelong friendship. Sara said yes, overcome with emotion, and moments later, both of their families appeared, transforming the intimate proposal into a joyful celebration. Blending Sara’s Middle Eastern heritage with Prerak’s Indian roots, their engagement marked the beginning of a refined and deeply meaningful multicultural celebration.

For the Indian ceremony, Sara honored tradition in a stunning red lehenga richly embroidered with intricate gold detailing, a timeless symbol of love and prosperity. A Snow-Kissed Aspen Wedding with Timeless White Blooms

The vision for the wedding was a romantic and elevated black-tie affair. The bride wanted the design to reflect the tone of the entire wedding weekend— intimate and warm, yet refined with a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic. Each detail was thoughtfully layered to create an atmosphere that felt both elegant and inviting.

The bride grew up spending much of her childhood at her grandparents’ farm in Lafayette, Alabama. The Groom knew that there was no place more special to the bride, and since her grandparents had passed a would not be a part of this special time, the Groom knew that the farm was the perfect place to propose—surrounded by friends and family, of course. So, on Easter weekend, the Bride and Groom traveled to her hometown for the holiday. When they stopped at the farm on the way in and no one was there, the bride knew something was up. The two walked down to the bride’s favorite spot, and the Groom got down on one knee. And the rest is history.

The reception was held at Cache Cache, an elegant French restaurant right in the heart of downtown Aspen. The reception began with a cocktail hour where the guests enjoyed an open bar and endless French wine as well as passed hors d’oeuvres consisting of duck confit tacos, crab cakes, 7X beef meatball, and Ecuadorian shrimp. The wedding guests were then wined and dined with a sit-down, candlelit dinner. As if they were guests of Cache Cache on any normal Friday night, the guests ordered from a three-course menu with choices, including, along others, Alaskan King Crab, Organic Scottish Salmon Tartare, Escargots à la Bourguignonne, Pappardelle 7X Ranch Wagyu Beef Cheek Ragoût, Colorado Rack of Lamb, Veal Ossobuco, Wild Black Sea Bass, and, of course, warm chocolate chip cookies and wedding cake.

Florals and décor for the wedding were intentionally designed around a monochromatic palette of soft whites to reflect the season in Aspen while complementing the warm, timeless atmosphere of the couple’s reception venue, Cache Cache. With early April still bringing snow to the mountains, the couple wanted the design to feel fresh and seasonal while allowing the natural beauty of Aspen and the character of the venues to shine. The ceremony took place at Aspen Community Church, where the design approach was intentionally understated to honor the beauty of the historic space. Delicate pew florals of white garden roses and ranunculus tied with flowing ivory ribbon created a romantic aisle leading to the altar, where glowing pillar candles framed the cross and added warmth to the candlelit sanctuary. For the reception at Cache Cache, the floral design shifted to an intimate, dinner-party style aesthetic that enhanced the restaurant’s classic European ambiance. Tables featured petite arrangements of ranunculus, sweet peas, and delicate seasonal blooms in low bowls and small glass vessels, allowing candlelight and the atmosphere of the room to take center stage. Select tables incorporated larger arrangements of hydrangea, orchids, and airy branching elements to add movement and dimension throughout the space. Crisp white linens, ribbed glass votives, and custom gold table numbers echoed the ornate motif used throughout the stationery, while embroidered monogram napkins added a personalized detail. The result was a timeless and understated design that felt effortlessly elegant, allowing the charm of Aspen in early spring and the intimate setting of Cache Cache to take center stage. Paper everything done by Craftmaster Printers (including metal seating chart easels).

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple’s wedding cake was created by Diana Morrissey, who came highly recommended by the team at Cache Cache. The bride opted for a simple and elegant two-tier cake, embracing a timeless aesthetic that complemented the overall design of the day. The cake was finished with a charming antique-style bride and groom topper, a music box sourced from Etsy, adding a meaningful and nostalgic detail.[/field]

The ceremony music was performed by organist Susan Nicholson, who was recommended by Aspen Community Church. Her playing added a timeless and reverent tone to the ceremony. The ceremony was officiated by one of the father of the bride’s oldest and dearest friends. DJ Naka G, with the help of JAK Innovations, created the perfect reception performance. From a cocktail hour and dinner filled with The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong, and Frank Sinatra to an after-party spent singing and dancing on the bar to ABBA, Chappell Roan, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, and of course, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Once the dinner concluded, and it was time to move everyone into the bar area to dance, rainbow perimeter lighting that changed colors to the beat of each song lit up on every wall, so it was a clear sign to Guests that the party was starting! The bride surprised everyone with an outfit change and made a reappearance to Outkast’s “Ms. Jackson” as an homage to her new last name. The couple danced to Nat King Cole’s, L-O-V-E. The bride and her father then danced to Perry Como and Betty Hutton’s, A Bushel and a Peck, a song the bride’s grandmother used to always sing. There was not a dry eye in the room when the bride surprised her father at the end of the song with a voicemail of her grandmother singing the chorus. The groom and his mother had every guest on their feet and clapping along to The Bellamy Brothers’ Let Your Love Flow. Just as soon as the first dances ended, the party started.DJ Naka wasted no time as he turned up the music and turned on the neon lights.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The wedding date—a date especially meaningful as it marked what would have been the 62nd wedding anniversary of the bride’s beloved grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Barry Whatley, Sr. The grandparents who lived on the same farm where the groom proposed. The couple also honored their covenant of marriage by the bride wearing her grandmother’s wedding bands. [/field]

The wedding day began with a magical first look at the top of Aspen Mountain. The bride rode up the Silver Queen Gondola to meet the groom with her father. The most special one-on-one time for a father and his first little girl. Fresh snow and the endless mountain views created a moment straight out of a fairy tale as the bride walked through the fresh snow to meet her groom. The two then rode back down the gondola, where they were greeted by the bridesmaids (and a few friends enjoying a pre-wedding après ski cocktail)!

Rachel and Adam share a love of gardening and florals. In fact, for their engagement session, we went to a nursery and garden, as this is part of them and their story. Because of this, they wanted to have an outdoor garden party wedding and chose a beautiful estate that was formerly a nursery for their venue. And they complemented the blooming florals of the venue with garden floral design.

Rachel’s wedding gown continued on the floral theme with floral appliqué across the bodice that fitted her perfectly. The florals cascaded down the length of her gown, which opened to a slit for a little added spice.

It was a hot summer day, so Rachel and Adam planned a lavender lemonade cocktail to welcome their guests as a refreshment before the ceremony began. During cocktail hour, guests were treated to delicious tray-passed appetizers. And for dessert, Ben and Jerry’s served ice cream to cool everyone down in the evening.

Rachel and Adam wanted garden floral arrangements that echoed the garden estate, and Moonflower Design Co delivered both for the ceremony and reception. The ombre of white, to lavender, to pale blue set the tone for an elegant aesthetic with hydrangeas, delphinium, and clematis intentionally arranged in gorgeous, loose, and organic arrangements. Their reception tables included floral-patterned table linens to continue the garden theme, and sweet lamps dotted the serpentine table layout.

A French Countryside Wedding Centered on Garden Beauty, Long Lunches, and Effortless Elegance

Soft natural neutrals, ivory, whites, buttery yellow, and soft foliage greens. We chose soft, natural colours to complement the beauty of the château and its surrounding gardens and vineyards. The setting was already so breathtaking that we wanted the palette to enhance it rather than distract from it. Neutral tones and delicate florals in white and buttery yellow blended beautifully with the landscape and created a romantic, effortless atmosphere.

Our vision was romantic, natural, and effortlessly elegant, allowing the château and its gardens to be the true backdrop of the celebration. More than anything, we wanted the day to feel joyful and full of life. The atmosphere we hoped to create was one where guests could enjoy incredible food, music, sunshine, and the company of people they love, all while surrounded by the beauty of the French countryside.

Alfie proposed on the rooftop of our apartment in Sydney while we were living in Australia. With the help of a company called Eleven Events, he completely transformed the space with rugs and cushions, a flower-covered arch, candles, champagne, and a beautiful spread of charcuterie, fruit, and delicious nibbles. On the day of the proposal, I was meant to finish work early, but Alfie was running behind setting everything up, so he secretly asked my boss to keep me at work for a couple more hours. By the time I finally left, I was starving and slightly grumpy, and when I told Alfie I was on my way home, he asked me to come up to the rooftop because he had a surprise. I was convinced he had surprised me with a puppy and just wanted to grab food and head to the beach, but when I opened the door, he was on one knee in the middle of the flower arch, asking me to marry him. I blurted out that I thought it was going to be a puppy before immediately saying yes, and we both cried before celebrating with champagne and the beautiful food prepared.

I had visited so many bridal boutiques in London and was beginning to feel like I would never find the dress. Then I went to The Wedding Club in Knightsbridge, and the moment I tried on my gown, I knew it was the one. It felt effortless, dreamy, and incredibly romantic, with the most beautiful embroidery that made it feel truly special. The dress fit almost perfectly and needed very little tailoring, which felt like a sign that it was meant to be. I loved how elegant and comfortable it felt, especially for a summer wedding in the French countryside

The mix of silhouettes created a relaxed and natural look while still feeling cohesive and elegant.

Food and drink were incredibly important to us, especially as we were getting married in France, where cuisine is such a huge part of the culture. One of our favourite dishes was the truffle, ricotta, and mushroom ravioli, which guests are still talking about. We chose a family-style sharing menu, which really added to the relaxed, communal atmosphere we wanted for the evening. Layla’s signature drink was a Spicy Passion Fruit Margarita, while Neema’s cocktail, called “Cactus Flower,” combined mezcal with rose liqueur and prickly pear syrup. During the reception, guests enjoyed a family-style dinner featuring dishes such as wild mushroom risotto, organic chicken, braised beef, and Acre’s catch of the day. The evening concluded with a variety of desserts, including churros, paletas, chocolate cake, and cream puffs, creating a festive and interactive dining experience.

The wedding ceremony and reception took place at the stunning Acre Resort, where the lush natural surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for the celebration. The romantic floral design was created by Blushn Roses, whose arrangements combined textured greenery with warm-toned blooms to complement the organic atmosphere of the venue. Photography and videography were beautifully captured by MC Weddings, documenting every meaningful moment of the day from the emotional ceremony to the vibrant dance floor later in the evening. The event design was enhanced with rentals provided by Yaya Rentals, The Cabo Wedding Co., and The Main Event Cabo, while Creative Stationery and Furniture designed the custom stationery elements that added personalized details throughout the event. Music and entertainment were led by DJ Moeen, who kept the dance floor full all night, with live percussion performances by Elite Music Service that elevated the energy of the reception. The ceremony and cocktail hour music were performed by Cabo Strings, adding a romantic and elegant atmosphere as guests arrived and enjoyed the sunset. “Once we decided Lowndes Grove was the perfect setting for our wedding, we decided we didn’t want to ‘gild the lily’ by going overboard with bright colors or too trendy décor. We wanted the naturally beautiful Lowcountry evening to let the estate’s charm and scenery speak for themselves. The entire wedding day felt deeply personal and truly reflective of us as a couple and all the care we put into creating it. The bride was an art history major, so artful accents were her favorite design flair. The table numbers and seating chart were based on French Rococo and Neo-Classical paintings from the 18th century, reflecting the personality and period of the estate. Our vendors really did exceed every expectation. They not only brought our vision to life so beautifully, but were so patient, collaborative, and thoughtful throughout the entire process. Their creativity and attention to detail made every part of the wedding day feel visually stunning while still feeling completely true to us. We spent so much time carefully choosing each group we worked with, and we’re so grateful we did. We are still so in love with our florals; they were beyond all our Pinterest dreams and so perfectly captured the organic yet sophisticated Southern evening. The linens were also one of our favorite reception details. They not only accented beautifully with the oyster place setting and cut crystal stemware, but were stylishly harmonious with the elegant Lowcountry atmosphere of the evening. One of our favorite moments was during the Father-of-the-Bride speech, when the bride’s dad broke into a surprise Sinatra song, band and all. No one knew it was coming, not even the Mother-of-the-Bride, and it instantly became a once-in-a-lifetime moment we’ll never forget. A moment we keep going back to was our exit from the main house into a vintage Rolls-Royce. The structure remained timeless, while florals, paper details, and tabletop textures introduced movement and depth. In collaboration with Carena of Amy Abbott Events, the design focused on balance, allowing bold tones to stand confidently against the natural setting at Esperanza. The butterfly motif originated from Taylor’s Oscar de la Renta rehearsal dinner dress and carried quite significance throughout the weekend. Rather than appearing heavily, it surfaced in the cake design, escort details, and subtle tabletop accents. The palette reflected a Cabo sunset. Coral and magenta anchored the ceremony florals, soft blues cooled the reception tables, and woven textures grounded the color story against the ocean backdrop.

Jack proposed at Kemo Sabe in Vail, Colorado, with both families present. Afterward, they designed custom cowboy hats on-site, turning the proposal into an experience they could carry with them long after the weekend ended. Colorado felt especially fitting, as it is where Taylor was born and raised, and a place Jack has vacationed frequently.

She completed the look with custom earrings from Fifth Avenue Designs and later borrowed her mother’s tennis necklace for the reception. Vintage Chanel heels added a subtle fashion-forward touch. Bridal styling was curated by Anne Banks Easter.[/field]

A Rhode Island Wedding That Captured the Spirit of a Newport Summer at Castle Hill Inn

A romantic and airy coastal garden-party wedding by the sea at the historic 40-acre estate, The Castle Hill Inn. Classic and formal, but also featuring a dreamy floral forward design aesthetic. The ceremony overlooked the Narragansett Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Guests roamed the vast gardens and lawn during the cocktail party and later dined and danced the night away beneath the sailcloth tent. Jack, an experienced sailor, has spent over a decade sailing out of Newport and Jamestown, Rhode Island. When they began dating, Corinne quickly fell in love with the area during summer visits, and after creating so many meaningful memories there, they knew it was the perfect place to get married. Choosing Castle Hill Inn felt effortless—the exceptional staff made both the planning process and wedding day seamless.

It was the Friday before Christmas Eve, which fell on a Sunday in 2023. Jack and Corinne were visiting her parents’ house in Avon by the Sea, NJ, and it was windy and brutally cold. Jack insisted on taking our dog for a walk on the beach. Corinne tried multiple times to turn around because it was so cold,d but he insisted we go see how the beach looked after a storm. They walked on the beach for a bit, and he got down on his knee and asked most sweetly – of course, her answer was yes.

The wedding featured an inspired all-white floral theme with lush greenery accents. The bride carried a delicate bouquet of lily of the valley, while each bridesmaid held a unique arrangement of white flowers. It was uncertain if it would be possible to source Lily of the Valley in July, so when the bride received her bouquet that morning,g she was overjoyed as it was a nod to her grandmother. The ceremony aisle was lined with baskets of white blooms, ms and the centerpiece, a lush arbor design overflowing with white flowers set against a base of greenery. White rose petals were thrown in the air, framing the bride and groom during the recessional. At the reception, hanging basket pendants showcased white roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, and greenery. Each table featured an individually unique design, with the suspended floral arrangements serving as a stunning focal point. Blue tapered candles lit the tables with subtle touches of forget-me-nots.

A long-time family friend of the bride’s parents married the couple and celebrated her Hawaiian heritage by surprising her with a traditional Hawaiian lei. One ring barrier presented the lei to Jack, and the other ring barrier presented the wedding bands on a white pillow.

It was the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend, and we had a group of friends coming on Friday to spend the weekend with us at the beach. Earlier that week, William had asked if I wanted to take the dogs out on the boat on Thursday evening after work. I always say yes, but that day was very windy. I kept asking if he was sure he wanted to go—he never takes the boat out when it’s that windy! He just kept saying, “It’s not that bad,” even though it definitely was. When we pulled up to the beach, we decided to take a walk with the dogs. William went back to the boat to grab us a drink, but I noticed he wasn’t taking any sips and his hands were shaking. I asked if he was okay, and that’s when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was perfect — the surprise, the quiet moment, and even the dogs were calm (which never happens!). We sat together for a while, just soaking it all in. Later that night, we met my mom and cousins for a nice dinner to celebrate. The next day, all our friends arrived, and we spent the whole weekend celebrating — the second-best weekend of our lives, right after our wedding!

It wasn’t at all what I thought I’d choose, but at every appointment after that, I kept comparing everything to that dress.[/field]

For dinner, they enjoyed short rib, truffle chicken (a Laura Ashley Catering favorite!), and local Florida grouper. A guest favorite was the late-night Taco Bell truck that parked in the driveway, ready to serve guests that final bite.

My dad passed away six years ago, and he was such an important part of my life. I wanted to make sure we included special details in the wedding to honor him. Ever since I was young, my dad collected bottles of Silver Oak wine and always said he wanted them served at my wedding, so that’s exactly what we did. Each table had a bottle, and my mom gave a heartfelt toast in his honor. We also made sure to have his favorite beer, Amstel Light, available at the bar. My dad always used to say, “Anything worth doing is worth overdoing,” and that felt especially fitting for our wedding day — every detail and moment was filled with love and intention. Several guests even came up to me during the night and mentioned how perfectly that saying described the celebration. We all truly felt his presence that day. Our wedding day was especially meaningful because it fell on my parents’ 28th wedding anniversary.

Chartreuse, merlot, purple. For the overall design direction, the couple was drawn to chartreuse as the defining color of the palette. They were captivated by its vibrancy and how effortlessly it echoed the liveliness of the Penthouse setting. The bold, citrus-toned green brought a fresh, modern energy to the space, creating a striking foundation for the celebration’s aesthetic. To introduce balance and a sense of seasonal depth, the palette was thoughtfully layered with tones of merlot and contemporary purples. These richer hues softened the brightness of chartreuse while subtly nodding to an October setting, creating a composition that felt both elevated and seasonally grounded. The interplay between vivid and moody tones resulted in a palette that was refined, expressive, and full of dimension.

One of the most memorable touches was a signature cocktail Ted once said perfectly captured Laura’s spirit: the Naked & Famous. Bright, complex, and a little bold, it quickly became a favorite among guests. In a playful nod to Italian tradition, the cocktail was served through a tiny speakeasy-style window the couple named “La Buchetta.” The name translates to “small opening” in Italian and references the historic wine windows—buchette del vino—that dot the streets of Florence. Just like those centuries-old windows where passersby could receive a glass of wine, guests approached the Penthouse wall to receive their cocktail through the charming little opening. One of the drink’s signature ingredients, Chartreuse, added another layer of richness to the experience.

Ted’s own signature drink offered a completely different atmosphere. His XO Old Fashioned was served from “The Library,” a custom bar installation nestled inside the Penthouse library, creating a cozy and refined corner where guests could gather for a perfectly stirred classic.

Adding yet another unexpected detail, bottles of Roederer L’Ermitage Black Label were chilled inside the Penthouse’s vintage bathtubs before being poured for guests. It was a playful yet luxurious touch that perfectly reflected the spirit of the celebration—elegant, personal, and filled with moments that felt both timeless and delightfully surprising. [/field]

When it came to the décor, a few elements quickly became clear favorites. The Chartreuse Mabel Chairs from Theoni were easily the standout statement pieces of the day. Their bold color and sculptural shape added personality to the design while beautifully tying in the chartreuse color story that carried throughout both the ceremony and reception. They felt elevated yet playful, perfectly echoing the vibrant details woven into the celebration. Another design element that truly surprised everyone was the table linens. Featuring an ornate sequin pattern with a modern edge, they brought texture, movement, and a subtle shimmer that unified the entire tablescape. The linens ended up becoming one of the most memorable visual details of the evening, adding just the right amount of drama and glamour to the overall design. Florals became one of the most expressive and artful layers of the day, beautifully brought to life by Emily of Flower Girl Em. Laura’s vision for the bouquet was something bold, unexpected, and full of life. Drawn to the idea of a monochromatic palette, she fell in love with a vibrant lime-chartreuse tone that felt both fresh and fashion-forward. The cymbidium orchids in the perfect shade became the centerpiece of her bouquet. They were paired with softly draping light green amaranthus, adding movement and an organic, almost ethereal quality as it cascaded effortlessly. For the ceremony and dinner, the floral story deepened into richer, more layered tones. The couple wanted to bring in warmth through hues of plum and mulberry, accented with subtle notes of chocolate and lime to maintain cohesion with the overall palette. Seasonal, locally sourced blooms set the tone, with dahlias, hydrangea, and pistachio branches creating lush, textural arrangements that surrounded Laura and Ted as they exchanged vows. Dinner design became a playful extension of the floral concept, where Flower Girl Em leaned into abundance and seasonality. Fresh fruit was sourced from local markets—clusters of grapes, ripe figs, and even miniature heirloom eggplants—which were woven throughout the tablescape. These unexpected elements paired beautifully with oncidium orchids, hellebore, and deep plum calla lilies, creating a rich, layered composition that felt both elevated and slightly whimsical. The result was a tablescape that felt alive, immersive, and deeply rooted in the season, blending color, texture, and form in a way that was both refined and unforgettable.

Instead of a traditional guestbook, guests signed a coffee table book about the history of the San Francisco Fairmont, a special gift Ted had received from his mother. The book not only honored the legacy of the landmark hotel but also created a keepsake the couple can return to for years to come, with handwritten notes from their loved ones woven throughout its pages.

A Sunset-Inspired Santa Barbara Wedding with Coastal Mediterranean Charm

Our wedding took place in Santa Barbara at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara. We had dreamed of saying our vows before the oceanside bluffs of the Californian coast. The natural landscape inspired our coastal Mediterranean design while incorporating natural media and elements, such as driftwood-colored benches and details that blend in with the landscape.

Our story begins with two young college students meeting by chance and falling in love by fate. We transformed the cocktail hour into a Library Bar, because like so many of our friends and family, we love to read. We decorated the bar with our guests’ favorite books, and gave literary names to our signature cocktails.

The wedding’s whimsical, romantic tone was woven throughout every detail—from the movement of the design to the shapes of the florals and the color palette. Guests gathered oceanside to witness our vows before transitioning into a cozy, study-inspired setting for cocktail hour and the after-party. Dubbed “The Library Bar,” the space paid tribute to our love of reading, featuring a curated collection of books hand-selected to reflect the guests. Adding a playful touch, a gaming wall invites guests to unwind between moments, with nostalgic favorites like Mario Kart. When it was time for dinner, guests discovered their seats through a personalized library installation, where each book along the shelves featured a guest’s name on the spine—guiding them to their place in a way that felt both thoughtful and on theme.

We kept the bridal bouquet to be preserved by Pressed Floral, so instead of a traditional bouquet toss, we gathered everyone on the dance floor for the bride’s t-shirt toss. The lucky guest who caught it received a bespoke tee designed by 89 Factory, adorned with the faces of our two cats.

Carly & Aaron envisioned a wedding defined by old-world French romance with a modern twist, designed to immerse their guests in the wonders of the Loire Valley for an entire weekend. They desired to create a timeless aesthetic that highlighted the natural beauty of Château de la Bourdaisière, its pale stone architecture, and its diverse indoor and outdoor spaces. For the wedding day, the atmosphere leaned into a sophisticated antique aesthetic. A palette of deep, timeless colors, varied textures, and a curated mix of metals brought an authentic, vintage character to the celebration, bridging the gap between historical grandeur and contemporary chic. The day before the wedding, the couple hosted a rehearsal dinner in an atypical cave setting. Staying true to the overall aesthetic, the design focused on an accumulation of candles, mirrors, and soft draping to create an intimate, out-of-time ambiance within the subterranean space, setting a beautiful tone for the celebration to follow.

The proposal took place on Carly’s 30th birthday during a trip to the Catskills to admire the New England fall foliage. The couple stayed at Wings Castle, a unique bed and breakfast overlooking a local winery. After a wine tasting, they brought a bottle back to the castle to watch the sunset. While the owner was taking a photo of them, Aaron got down on one knee to propose. To mark the occasion, the owner offered them her own wedding flutes for a celebratory toast, making the moment truly magical.

As a vintage enthusiast who shares her unique finds and ‘thrift flips’ on TikTok (@carlywied), Carly’s wedding wardrobe was a masterfully curated blend of family heirlooms, handmade creations, and vintage designer pieces. A self-taught seamstress with a deep appreciation for fashion, she brought a personal and skilled touch to every look. She wore four distinct looks throughout the day: Getting Ready: The morning began with a sentimental nod to family history, as Carly wore her mother’s original wedding peignoir and slip. Ceremony, cocktail hour & dinner: For the vows, she chose a vintage Justin Alexander gown sourced from Shop Gossamer and tailored by Bremelia. This embroidered strapless piece was styled with a vintage La Reine Bridal cathedral veil and Chanel shoes. The First Dance: To open the ballroom, Carly changed into a Monique Lhuillier gown. In a beautiful tribute to her family’s shared history, she paired it with her mother’s wedding veil, the same veil her sister and matron of honor wore for her own wedding. This was also the perfect moment for a second portrait session with Aaron before joining the party. The After-Party: To hit the dancefloor, Carly wore a skirt she had handmade herself with a Spella corset that she personally hand-beaded. She accessorized with Louboutin heels and a rare 19th-century Victorian hand fan made of silk, mother-of-pearl, and ivory. Her jewelry featured a custom pink diamond necklace and a wedding band from Adamas Fine Jewelry. Aaron wore a custom midnight navy herringbone tux from Hive and Colony, accented with vintage cufflinks.

A high semi-arch climbed the stone on one side, while lower arrangements were set in stone Medici vases on the other. The dinner took place in the château’s magnificent vaulted hall. The tables were adorned with generous floral arrangements in vintage metal containers for an antique feel, with fruits sprinkled throughout. Numerous antique candelabras in various metals and shapes completed the atmosphere, bringing many touches of light through their candles. Vintage plates beautifully complemented the table setting. All the stationery, from the invitations to the wedding day materials, was carefully designed and created by Carly and her mother, an artist, adding the perfect final touch to the overall decoration.

Although the ceremony was non-denominational, the couple chose to honor their backgrounds by blending Jewish and Catholic traditions. They first performed the traditional smashing of the glass, followed by a symbolic candle-lighting ritual. Using two individual flames, they lit a central candle together to represent the union of their two lives, concluding the ceremony in a truly suspended moment.

A few details regarding the rehearsal dinner. For the rehearsal dinner, Carly embraced a truly unique vintage look. She wore a one-of-a-kind custom gown crafted from Italian silk and French lace, discovered through a vintage seller on Poshmark. To complete this timeless ensemble, she carried a vintage Judith Leiber clutch, perfectly echoing the antique spirit of the weekend. Aaron wore a vintage Hugo Boss velvet-embossed dinner jacket. The reception took place within the château’s vast, historic caves, a setting characteristic of the Loire Valley. As the vaults offered a dramatic but dark backdrop, Carly & Aaron focused their decor on light. Guests were welcomed by a grand table glowing with lit candles that served as a creative seating chart. Each guest was invited to find the matchbox featuring their name and its candle to discover their table assignment. These custom matchboxes, thoughtfully designed by Carly and her mother, led the way into a magnificent hall illuminated by hundreds of flames for an unforgettable candlelit dinner.

To conclude, here is a look at the flow of this exceptional wedding weekend. As Carly, Aaron, and the vast majority of their guests traveled from the United States, the couple wished to gather everyone for an extended stay. This provided a precious opportunity for loved ones to reconnect and for those meeting for the first time to build bonds, all while allowing guests to rest and adjust to the time difference before the wedding day. It was also the perfect occasion to explore the surroundings and some of the wonders of the Loire Valley. On the first day, guests were invited on a private cruise along the Cher river, offering a breathtaking perspective of the iconic Château de Chenonceau, followed by an intimate wine tasting and welcome cocktail at Château de Nitray. For this occasion, Carly had naturally designed and handcrafted a magnificent dress herself! The following day was designed to immerse guests in the idyllic setting of Château de la Bourdaisière, where most of the guests were staying. The program featured a chic, country-style luncheon held in the gardens, home to the estate’s famous tomato conservatory and a remarkable collection of dahlias. While a pool party was originally intended, the capricious weather led to a charming alternative: guests spent a cozy afternoon playing board games by the fire in the château’s salons. The day concluded with a rehearsal dinner held within the château’s historic caves. The third day was entirely dedicated to the wedding celebration itself, followed by a final farewell after breakfast the next morning.

Agios Isidoros Church, Chios, Greece August 21, 2025 On August 21, 2025, Joanne Koutsoulias and Apostolos Feretzanis — two Greek creatives living in New York — were married on the island of Chios in a celebration that felt as timeless and romantic as the landscape itself. With Joanne working in luxury fashion at Chanel and Apostolos immersed in creative construction and design, the couple shares an appreciation for beauty, heritage, and intentional detail — values that shaped every element of their wedding day. Wedding Colours Our palette was inspired directly by the setting of Agios Isidoros — crisp white against the Aegean blue, sun-warmed terracotta, natural stone, and soft olive greens. The church’s whitewashed walls and red-tiled roof became part of the visual language of the day, while the deep sea and golden horizon added depth and warmth. At the reception, layered whites and creams were balanced with olive-toned runners and lush greenery, creating continuity from ceremony to celebration. Subtle blush tones — reflected in my gown and shoes — added softness without overpowering the Mediterranean setting. The colors felt organic, romantic, and timeless, as though the wedding had grown naturally from the island itself.

It was also the first and only bridal salon I visited. The experience was deeply personal and intimate, shared with just my mom, my grandmother, and my sister. The strapless sweetheart neckline framed a delicate three-dimensional floral appliqué that felt almost weightless against the skin. The fitted bodice flowed into a romantic skirt layered in intricate lace, with a soft blush undertone that gave the gown warmth and depth rather than stark white contrast. It felt feminine yet strong — ethereal yet structured, timeless with modern clarity. From the sea breeze outside the church to dancing beneath chandeliers at the reception, the dress moved effortlessly, as if it belonged exactly where we were. Shoes, because my gown had a soft blush undertone, I knew I didn’t want a stark white shoe. I had a surprisingly difficult time finding something that complemented the warmth of the dress without competing with it. My koumbara — the Greek equivalent of a maid of honor — helped me in the search, and just a few weeks before my first dress fitting, she came across the perfect pair: brand-new, never-worn, blush satin Manolo Blahnik sandals in my exact size on The RealReal. It felt serendipitous, like they were meant to be mine. Working in fashion — and previously as a buyer for women’s designer shoes at Barneys New York — Manolo Blahnik has always been a brand that encompassed my world. I’ve long admired its timeless femininity and refined craftsmanship, and choosing that pair felt entirely true to my personal aesthetic — polished, chic, and quietly confident.

From the bride: Ceremony Atmosphere The ceremony took place at Agios Isidoros, a small seaside church connected to land by a narrow stone walkway. I arrived by boat, gliding across the Aegean toward the whitewashed church perched at the water’s edge — a moment that felt cinematic and deeply symbolic. Crossing the water toward the church felt like stepping into something sacred and timeless. The ceremony followed the traditions of the Greek Orthodox faith, rich in symbolism and ritual. A live violinist accompanied the service, her playing filling the church with a softness that made the atmosphere feel even more romantic. Her talent was extraordinary — each note layered gently over the chanting and the distant sound of the sea just beyond the church walls. The result was emotional, intimate, and profoundly tied to place. Music shaped the emotional rhythm of the entire day. Our ceremony featured an incredibly talented live violinist whose playing added a softness and depth that made the atmosphere feel even more romantic. She performed “The Ordinary” by Alex Warren as I stepped off the boat and made my way toward the front of the altar — a moment that felt cinematic and suspended in time. Later in the evening, she performed “Pio Poly” by Mixalis Hatzigiannis for our first dance, her interpretation layering beautifully over the reception and making the moment feel intimate and deeply personal. She carried the emotion from ceremony to celebration seamlessly, creating continuity through every transition. For the reception, we had a live band that played traditional Greek songs, with classics like “Karavia Xiotika” and the unmistakable rhythms of zeibekiko and kalamatiano filling the dance floor and bringing generations together. The sound of live instruments created an atmosphere that felt authentically celebratory and deeply rooted in our culture. As the night evolved, our DJ took over, blending 90s favorites with current hits and house music, giving the celebration a modern edge. The shift in sound kept the energy elevated and the dance floor effortlessly cool. After my father-daughter dance, we surprised our guests by suddenly turning on one of my dad’s favorite songs — “Get Down On It” by Kool & the Gang, the iconic 1980s funk and R&B anthem. The music shifted, the energy lifted, and we broke out onto the dance floor together. It was joyful, spontaneous, and completely us — a moment I will cherish forever. Toward the end of the evening, my father surprised everyone once more by taking the microphone and singing one of his favorite songs live. He was incredible. The crowd was captivated, cheering him on as he owned the moment. It was the perfect closing note to a night we will never forget.

Choosing Agios Isidoros as our church held deep personal meaning. The name itself was a quiet tribute to Joanne’s late grandfather, Isidoros Koutsoulias. It also meant the world to us to have Father Damaskinos Ganas, the priest who baptized us both at our community parish in Brooklyn, present for the ceremony in Greece. Getting married in Greece was deeply important to us — our heritage and roots shape who we are, and celebrating our marriage on Greek soil felt like the most authentic way to begin this next chapter together.[/field]

From the bride: Honoring His Mother Apostolos’ late mother was deeply present in our hearts throughout the day. In the months leading up to the wedding, I gathered birthday cards, graduation notes, and name day messages she had written to him over the years.
